A Driver's Eye View:
Take a road trip around the Lands End area in this, the fourth in my series of real-time dvd drives, just one in a series of 'Dave's Cornwall DVD's' that feature a driver's eye view of the highways and byways of Far West Cornwall. Approximately 55 minutes of pure driving pleasure, filmed using a top quality car camera, and accompanied with gentle soothing music. See what Cornwall is really like out of season when the roads are quiet.
The Journey:
Just sit back, relax, and take in the view as we take a steady mid-winter drive from Lands End via a tour of the highways and byways, that takes us through Sennen, past the First & Last pub, and past Mayon Garage, then driving down to Sennen Cove, along the sea front and into the car park past the lifeboat house, to take in a view of the Atlantic surf. From there we come back up the hill from the cove and turn left past the school, and head on up past Carn Brea, driving past Lands End Airport and through the hamlet of Kelynack, up to Bosavern and turn left into St Just. After driving through St Just, we go down Nancherrow Hill and then climb the hill into Truthwall, from where we continue our journey on through Botallack, Carn Yorth, and Trewellard, on into Pendeen, and taking a brief stop at Geevor Tin Mine. From there we head past the old petrol station and up through the village of Morvah, all the while climbing the coast road up through the hamlet of Porthmeor, passing the megalithic stones and pulling in briefly at Zennor. From Zennor we double back and see the villagers waiting for the route 508 Western Greyhound bus, which we pass further up the road as we continue on our journey. The last leg of the drive sees us approaching the Gurnard's Head pub, where we pull in to complete our drive and grab a tasty ploughman's and a Cornish pint.
Experience West Cornwall:
In this DVD you will experience far West Cornwall on a mid-winter's mid afternoon on a crisp cold but sunny day, where the skies are blue, the roads are quiet, and rain clouds gradually appear the higher we get towards Eagle's Nest. The trees are bare and the occasional crow takes flight from the winter hedgerow, but this is a day of sunshine rather than the typical overcast days that are a hallmark of far West Cornwall in the deep winter. This is a road journey film that shows the stark beauty and tranquility of the Lands End Peninsula when the days are at their shortest and everyday life moves at it's own pace. A lovely 1 hour sojourn away from the humdrum of the city.
The Disc:
The dvd is both PAL (Europe) and NTSC (USA) region, so it doesn't matter where in the world you come from, it will play in any stand alone DVD player with your TV set, or on a computer. Complete with chapter points in the film so that you can navigate to specific areas of the tour by using the forward and reverse arrows on your remote control if you wish.
Packaging:
The dvd comes in a simple envelope, no bulky box or case, so all costs are kept to a minimum.
