Elevate your bathroom with this beautiful vintage 1990s, shabby chic, floral toilet seat that was Made in Korea. During my research on the manufacturer, I may have retraced a very cool story as to how this seat *possibly* ended up in the USA. Did a U.S. Army member buy this in Korea during the 1990s/Y2K era and brought it back to the USA?

First, the details. The toilet seat is New Old Stock and still sealed in its original packaging. Packaging does have shelf wear, a long tear on the back of the plastic wrap, small tears, dings, dents, etc. The seat comes in a gorgeous pinkish-red color that adds a pop of color to any bathroom decor. The color was very hard for my camera/lighting to capture correctly. Color is red with a pink tinge, so calling it a pinkish-red. The brocade fabric features pink and red flowers and greenery on a cream background. The seat is padded for maximum comfort. Translator app shows that some of the materials include resin, PVC, and PU. Printed measurements for the toilet seat on the packaging state: 410mm x 365mm which equates to 16.14” length x 14.37” width.

Now, onto its possible journey to the USA. Through the translations, I learned the name of the manufacturer was APEM Korea Co. which was established in South Korea in the 1990s and is no longer in business. When I looked up APEM’s address, one of the search results that populated was a former U.S. Army camp based in South Korea called Camp Edwards. This unexpected search result had me curious and I had to dig further. I couldn’t find an address for Camp Edwards but was able to find its coordinates. Based on the map of the coordinates, Camp Edwards was located in or around the same region that APEM was located. I couldn’t find anymore info except that Camp Edwards closed/was relocated to other military camps in 2004. Did a U.S. Army member purchase this at the camp/offsite shop near the camp and then brought it home to the USA? Maybe, maybe not? We will never know its true history but it seems quite possible.
