Furnival & Sons Oval Serving Dish pattern “CHARM”. Rare color. Date of manufacture: 1876 - 1890. This is a lovely early dish made by the Funival & Sons Pottery Co. The colors of their pottery range from pink, green, brown, mutli-colored and blue. The markings on the dish are very distinctive and indicative of an early potter’s mark. The mark on the dish is dated to 1851 when the Furnival Co. changed the mark to the one seen on the dish. This is a very attractive design and would add to any dinner place setting. In 1969 the Wedgewood Company acquired the business and shortly thereafter continued with some stamps and designs but eventually changed over to their own designs and that was the end of the Furnival design set. The dish is ready for immediate use and free of any chips, cracks, dings but it certainly looks aged.
