Title: “Disarmament Is the Ideal of Socialism". V. I. Lenin.
This poster belongs to a vintage set of 32 Soviet poster reproductions called “Soviet Political Posters” published in 1983 in the Soviet Union (Leningrad).
While Lenin was uncomfortable with the personality cult that sprung up about him, the party exploited it during the Russian Civil War and officially enshrined it after his death. As early as 1918, a biography of Lenin was written, and busts were produced. With his death, his embalmed body was displayed (to imitate beliefs that the bodies of saints did not decay) pictures, books and posters were produced in mass quantities with his image, this poster is a excellent example of this propaganda campaign carried out by the Soviet Union.
