4 Sept 74 BFPS 1479 Westlands Helicopters  Black flown Cachet Flown in the Flying display by the Westland Helicopter display team at Farnborough International 74. Also with Special  added Re - Flown red cachet flown on 12 September 1974 in Lockheed SR71 Blackbird Tail no 17972 of the USAF from Mildenhall Suffolk to Beale AFB California whilst establishing the  World Speed Record from London to Los Angeles in USAF SR71 Blackbird.

Captain Adams flew in the SR-71 program for four years and accumulated about 350 to 400 hours in the BlackĀ­bird. He also piloted B-52 bombers during the Vietnam War, logging 137 combat missions over Southeast Asia between the two aircraft.

In 1974 he set a world speed record in the SR-71 Blackbird, flying from London to Los Angeles in 3 hours and 47 minutes. The record still stands
