A finely done porcelain miniature figurine, marked Germany, of the Charles Dickens Pickwick Papers character Sam Weller. In this figurine, Sam is seated on a travel trunk polishing a shoe. He is nattily dressed, being the servant of Mr. Pickwick, and attending to his duties as his employer's manservant. Quite a charming little piece, measuring 3 3/4" tall. Unmarked except for the character's name on the front of the plinth, Germany incised on the back of the trunk, and L401 on the reverse of the plinth. No chips, cracks, repairs or restorations.
