1960s BRASS & BEVELED GLASS MINIATURE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK
8-day migonette movement with Swiss precision 11-jewel platform escapement

This elegant little gem is from my personal collection of vintage and antique timepieces curated since the early 1970s.  Yes; that's Doug half a century ago gracing the cover of our local newspaper.

Research indicates that costly "ACG" brand carriage clocks were marketed exclusively in the UK through prestigious jewelers (e.g., Harrods, Asprey).  Details of construction, fittings and finish are consistent with 1960s French clock case and movement manufacture utilizing Swiss platforms.

The cannelle form incorporating complex step-molded profiles and refined proportions adapts classic late 19th century French carriage clock designs.  Migonette variants were as expensive as full size clocks.

The commendably finished movement, with thick plates, ringed-turned and shaped posts, polished brass barrel & precisely cut wheels, and polished steel pinions & arbors, is visible through beveled glass side and door panels.  The fired enamel dial is screened with Roman numeral hours and minute markers.  Delicate hands are blued.

NOTE:  In February of 2024, I completely disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned and rinsed the movement in waterless solutions, checked for wear, polished the scored contrate wheel front pivot, installed a KWM bushing, buffed to achieve mirror polish, reassembled and lubricated with high-grade Swiss oils.  Mainspring was removed from the barrel, cleaned and lubricated with grease.  The platform was disassembled with cap jewels removed, ultrasonically and hand cleaned, reassembled and lubricated with Moebius oils.  Hands, dial, crystal and glass panels were cleaned.  The case was disassembled, painstakingly treated to remove oxidation, hand buffed to high luster and sealed with specially formulated lacquer inhibiting oxidation.

Meticulous restoration should provide reliable operation for years and preserve immaculate aesthetics. Labor cost for movement / platform overhaul and case refinishing of comparable carriage clocks is $575.

Please review descriptive information and study the photographs for details.  I'm available to answer any questions or concerns.
