I'm cleaning out a long closed Western Ma. luthier shops inventory and will be selling a lifetime collection of mostly vintage musical instruments and parts. Today I have what I believe to be a Martin D-18 bridge . It is made of Brazilian rosewood. This was in a baggie marked " CFM 1960's D size" . It hasn't been shaved in any way. The saddle is still in the slot and has a chip out of it. The bridge bottom is flat and the little bit of spruce shows that it was cleanly removed. This is for project guitar parts ,or for a vintage guitar restoration guy. A Martin guitar expert has told me that Martin guitars used these bridges until about 1972. They stopped building Brazilian bodies in 1969. Maybe this seems expensive , but it is genuine vintage Martin. If you buy a Brazilian blank $20 figure out how to cut the angled slot for the saddle, drill 6 evenly spaced bridge pin holes and then cut out the shape and carve the correct profile. You will have considerable time invested, and the results ?
