Here is a Vintage, 8" Brass and Horn Letter Opener with a Phoenix bird made of horn with Brass wings, letter opening end.  The bird has colored enamel dots applied to it, and 3 of the enamel dots are missing. The horn end is 3.5" and the brass end is 4.5" long.  Very attractive to have sitting on a desk, and very useable too.  Nice, interesting Vintage item.
