Oklahoma State Penitentiary and Prisons: Modern and Medieval circa 1916 by J.W. Casteel and Revised 2018 by Dan M. Reynolds

Oklahoma State Penitentiary and Prisons Modern and Medieval was one of the first books written about the penitentiary, originally published in ca. 1916 by J.W. (Bill) Casteel. The book was recreated in 2017 by former Oklahoma State Penitentiary Warden Dan M. Reynolds (1991-1994). The book is in its similar format to include grammar and spelling. The book contains 136 pages and 46 photographs of the penitentiary, staff and convicts. The book includes the thrilling account of the riot at McAlester, Oklahoma, January 19, 1914, when three officers, one federal judge and three prisoners were killed.
