This is a glazed vintage (I'm guessing antique) display cabinet that I assume (going by labels inside - see pics) was used for storing bullets / cartridges or other shooting paraphenalia.
Mahogany?
There are also some marks on the sides that may indicate there were once gun racks there.
There's no key for the lock.
