Irish Primitive "Hedge" Chair - Sycamore & Ash - Circa 1850-1880


Offered is a traditionl antique Irish hedgechair made of sycamore and ash. Originally from County Meath.


With six splayed spindles in "Gibson" style held in place by a curved bar stay-rail. The outplayed and scroll ended arms interlocked through the outer spindles, rounded-rectangular seat (with two redundant mortice holes) on hand-shaped splayed legs morticed through the seat.

Condition: good and strong throughout. 


Dimensions: 79 cm high,  63 cm wide, 60 cm depth. Height of seat 35cm.


A most original item of Irish country and vernacular furniture.
