Hundreds of Chaikins and Koshevos went to the front and went into immortality. And in the radiance of the third order there is a formidable reflection of those years of war. The Motherland highly appreciated the feat of Soviet youth on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Of the 2,603 ​​Heroes of the Soviet Union, 7 thousand are Komsomol students, young people of different nationalities. Of the 98 soldiers awarded two Gold Star medals, 60 were members of the Komsomol. Komsomol students Alexander Pokryshkin and Ivan Kozhedub were awarded this high title three times. 1,272 young soldiers, partisans and underground fighters were members of the Komsomol at the time they were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. More than 7 million people were awarded orders and medals, including 3.5 million Komsomol members and Komsomol students. Over 2,500 soldiers became full holders of the Order of Glory. Among them, more than two thirds are communists and Komsomol members, representatives of almost forty nationalities of the Soviet Union. During the war, hundreds of thousands of young partisans, underground fighters, and home front workers were awarded orders and medals of the USSR.
