Pair of very rare antique German pre WW1 C.P. Goerz Berlin Trieder Binocle 9x military binoculars with original case

An early example of German military prism binoculars. The triangular aluminium barrels have rounded edges and are covered with black leather.
Engraved CP Goerz Berlin on the front face of the left barrel and Trieder Binocle on the right barrel. They each have an ornate etched pattern around the lettering.
The connecting bridges are marked Germany along with the serial number 22052, which dates them to 1899

These binoculars appear to have been a presentation piece, given in 1902. The case lid is embossed with the words 'Parish Church St Andrew Portslade by Sea, presented by the choir & congregation to Percy James Feb 12 1902.

In good antique used condition, the case has some surface wear to the leather and the strap is thinning and torn in places. It is sound and functional. The binoculars are in good used antique condition with associated wear. The view through the lenses is clear but there are some spots visible as you look through. The leather neck strap is sound.

Case size approx. 14ccm W x 13cm H x 8cm D / Total weight 760g
