NOTE- Fork oil not only Hygroscopic its also Hyrdophic- water will accumulate in the pdf even if your PDF does not leak through the knob or 2x O ring mounting seals - pull it down at some point to check for corrosion in the unit that corrodes the zinc pin (knob), aluminium plunger and springs/ slides, give it a good clean and reassemble. See pics for corrosion and discard the fork oil.

NOTE- Its possible to remove and service the PDF whilst forks are still on the bike and has been done several times by us - one fork at a time- this way fork oil and PDF can be serviced relatively quickly- a combination of center-stand and scissor lift (to front of the frame) are use to take pressure of the forks whilst removing the top cap and also when scissor jack is lowered, can allow compression of the fork to remove oil from the drain hole and lift the spring and sealing cap out. However as forks are on an angle you can only add the 259ml of oil to forks recommended in the service manual (for Katana only-others unknown)but not be able to check the 'top down' measurement of new fork oil to the top of the fork (213mm down PDF mounted and compression spring removed-Katana only). Forks must be compressed several times to 'Charge' PDF with oil before final assembly.
