The Lionel Prairie type 2-6–2 locomotive number 1666 would be available in 1946.

The engine was equipped with nickel rimmed spoke, driving wheels, drive, and connecting rods with an eccentric crank. They sought after wheels head Baldwin on each wheel.

The tender is the original 1946 version.

The motor was removed from the boiler and cleaned and lubricated . The armature was cleaned, and the commentator plates were polished. The brushes were cleaned and adjusted. The side rods were polished and cleaned.

All parts were lubricated as per the Lionel maintenance schedule.

The boiler has the original paint and looks in prime condition.

My name is JOHN HOPE, and I am 83 years old and have been fixing engines for 70 years. I take pride and enjoyment bringing engines back to their original state.

When you receive this engine and tender originally from 1946 it will be ready to run on your layout or place on a display shelf.

It’s a tribute to Lionel engineers that they were able to design toys that lasted for 76 years. You will rest, assured that this engine and tender will last for another 76 years if properly cleaned and lubricated.

Caution: this engine runs very fast, so started out slow until you get the hang of it.

When you receive this sent and tender, you can rest, assured that it is ready to go on your layout or on a display shelf.
