1881, cette règle à calculer de poche inventée par le français G.Charpentier, permet de
réaliser toutes sortes de calculs arithmétiques et trigonométriques. Ce calculimètre
par sa forme circulaire et sa matière métallique était plus résistant et moins
encombrant que les règles à calcul en bois de la fin du XIXè ce qui fait qu’il a été rapidement adopté par l’armée

Patented in 1881, this pocket slide rule invented by G. Charpentier allows you to carry out all kinds of arithmetic and trigonometric calculations. This calculator, with its circular shape and its metallic material, was more resistant and less bulky than the wooden slide rules from the end of the 19th century, which meant that it was quickly used by the army.
