Absolutely beautiful 19 century sloped folding field desk or campaign desk. Likely made of Rosewood or Cherry.  Features the original key, hand forged brass handles, and original green felt on the writing surface. Newer hinges have been added to strengthen the desk. This desk is a true treasure for the writer or reader in your life. Sits wonderfully on top of a Chest of Drawers  or High-boy. Compliment with a fine ink pen and fiber paper for a return to the art of letter writing or keep notes and journaling. Opens to two 20x9" sloped writing surfaces. Has 3 small 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" compartment at the head for storage, 2 - 1 3/4x 3 1/2" compartments at the head, and one pen tray with hidden compartment underneath. The upper and lower writing surface each have paper storage underneath them. Last the alignment pin pulls out to reveal a hidden compartment behind one of the side panels. 

Condition: Very good as over 100 years old. Hinges have been replaced. Felt is worn and could be restored. The is a old crack in the top rear corner measuring 5 " it does not appear to structurally impact the case. Lock is sticky and could use some cleaning and alignment. There are some old water spots and light rings in the finish. These clean with Lemon oil, but will reappear over time. Please refer to the photos.
