Vintage Citizen Challeng Diver reference 62-6198 from the 1970s.

Steel case, size 40 mm without crown, lug to lug 47mm, 20mm lugs. Rotating bidirectional diver bezel. Mineral glass, very thick. Screwed crown, Screwed caseback.

Black dial with rectangular indexes with a full of green lume, mercedes style hands, seconds hand lollipop style, date at 3 with red numbers.

It is outfitted with the Citizen caliber 6000 automatic, 21-jewels, 21,600vph, can be hand-wound and has quick set date function.

With a new black leather strap, vintage style.

Last service is not known, seems not recent, but the caliber looks quite clean and the watch works fine.

The watch is fully original, with its signs of use (little scratches in the glass, the bezel and case), but in overall nice and vintage charming conditions. The lume on indexes and hands is the original one and still brighting in the dark.

Issued in late sixties to compete with the Seiko divers, the Challenge diver is the archetype of Citizen diver models, with a look that is now part of Citizen DNA and has been reproposed in several follow up models. This is the vintage original one.
