Very rare Military Commemorative/Presentation Tobacco Jar in good condition with no serious damage - however the underside part of the lid has been cracked (see last photo).

The Tobacco Jar was made by Taylor Tunnicliffe of Staffordshire & is decorated with two jovial Monks - the top collar rim & finial on the lid are both solid silver & hallmarked for (I believe) Henry Charles Freeman of Birmingham 1909. Both the silver collar & the finial are showing signs of age/use - the collar is extensively dented (see 2nd/3rd/8th/9th/10th & 11th photos) & the finial also has a 2-3 small dents (see 8th/10th photos).

*Captain Adjutant Delavoye & his close/extended families Military Service record/details etc are easily accessible on the internet & make very interesting reading.

It's approx 6.5"/16.5cms tall & is approx 4.5"/11.5cms diameter across the shoulders at its widest point.

It weighs approx 788grams or 1lb 12ozs.
