A very large 1930s vintage epidiascope by Ross of London.  Used in universities and other educational settings, this fascinating instrument combined the functions of a conventional magic lantern (a 'diascope') for projecting images from 3¼" square glass slides onto a screen, with an 'episcope' for projecting opaque images, such as the pages from a book, map or diagram etc. This dual function was achieved by an elaborate system of internal mirrors and lenses, operated by levers to the outside.  This particular example measures 84cm long, stands 42cm high and is 32cm wide.  It is sold as seen, for restoration, lacking both lenses, and priced accordingly.
