A rare find from 1941: a first edition children's vintage book without excessive personalisation (only ownership/dedication remarks to front end pages) and with dust cover (albeit with damage [see photo 9]). The book itself is very good/excellent, another rarity for these types of books - some fade and minor discolouration to exterior, as well as a bit of dirt and grime from 80+ years of shelf life, otherwise very good indeed and well protected by the dust cover. The dust cover has lost to the front top/spine 10% or so from a tear (approx ~2 by 4 inches, but jagged). Beyond this only very minor additional damage, no price clip and some minor discolouration to spine. Overall a very good copy.

Best of luck with any offers 👍

Further details extracted from Microsoft's Co-Pilot AI:

"Bells and Grass", a delightful collection of rhymes by Walter de la Mare, was first published in 1941 by Faber and Faber. Written for children of the 1940s generation, it continues to captivate the imaginations of today’s children. Here are more than 100 poems for children, each carrying a touch of de la Mare’s particular magic. The book features an introduction by the author—a poem in itself—where he shares how he came to rhyme again during a time so alien to his unique creativity. Whether you’re rediscovering these verses or encountering them for the first time, Bells and Grass invites you into a world of whimsy, wonder, and poetic delight.

Note: all books are delivered in bubble wrap and high quality brown paper for protection - postage cost slightly higher than standard courier costs to absorb this extra expense: I hope you understand.
