This is an original late 19th century Chinese hand carved Buddha dating from around 1890. The figure seated wearing a long bead necklace is depicted with three children in attendance and a large carved lotus flower to the left of the deity. The base is in the form of a lattice rope twist carved design. Superbly detailed and expertly carved from one solid block, the piece is a good size measuring 25 cms high by 25 cms in diameter.
This is in very good original condition with just a couple of natural shrinkage cracks as is generally the case with solid carved pieces of this age.
