Nikon F3 HP
Pin Registration Modified

Up for bids is this used Nikon F3 camera body that was modified by Double M Industries for exact Pin Registration.

The pin Register backs were used mainly in the copying industry (copying pictures, technical drawings etc.) and also in the film industry for making images of stills with different setups of objects; ideal in animation. These were the main use for these backs. The camera back has two pins that holds the film in place while taking a picture. These pins seat into two holes in the lower film rail of the camera. These keep the film exactly in place; important if one wants to combine several images, you just have to place the slides on top of each other by aligning them with the the holes in special slide holders (with pins). OR you can do double or triple or more exposures on the same film without the film being moved a millimeter.

Because of the camera modification to the film rails, the Double M was considered arguably the most accurate pin registration system of the day.

Condition
The camera has wear as expected from being a working camera. Brassing, light dings. An engraving on the camera rear. Slight wrinkle in lead curtain. Finder is clear. E screen installed. The back is in good condition.  I photographed all sides for you to draw your own conclusion as grading cosmetics is subjective.

Operationally, the camera is performing well. All shutter speeds fire and sound reasonably accurate. The self timer is working as well. The light meter is reacting to light and gives similar readings to my personal F3. The back's pins extend and retract properly. If you are planning to put it into regular use, its recommended you get a CLA (clean, lube, adjustment and seals) just to make sure everything is 100% to original factory spec.
