Up for sale is this beautiful 400mm prime lens objective.
This lens objective was made as part of Nikon's early foray into the super telephoto lenses. Their thought was to make a modular system, consisting of four lens objectives that would all share a common focusing unit. The focusing unit would mount to the camera and allow for focus and aperture setting, and the various lens objectives would attach to the focusing unit. This is the 400mm lens objective. Nikon also made a 600mm, 800mm and a 1200mm objective.
Only about 360 of these coated 400mm objectives were built and only 32 more were built after this one. It has the original box, caps, warranty cards and the EPOI mailer. A rare complete set for the collector!
Please note, there is no focusing unit being sold here; only the objective pictured.
CONDITION
As you can see from the photos, the lens was used sparingly and has little sign of use. Glass is scratch free. No fungus. A particle or two of dust.
Box is in poor condition, but is complete.
