Ultraviolet causes blurring and a predominance of blue in color images. This filter is ideal for shooting in the mountains, in the snow, at sea or in areas with very clean air where there is increased UV radiation. Photos with a UV filter are juicier and more saturated, the bluish turbidity that interferes with perception is eliminated, and the color rendering remains neutral.

It is recommended to leave the filter on the lens to permanently protect the lens from external influences – dust, dirt, rain, snow.

A feature of the BASIC series is the MRC multi-coating, which has 7 illuminated layers on each side. This ensures the absence of glare, bright colors and high contrast of the filter. It stays clean longer than an uncoated filter because water droplets roll off like mercury droplets. The level of light transmission is 99.5%.

The B+W BASIC frame has an external thread for additional accessories such as lenses, caps, hoods and other light filters. All frames of the BASIC series, like its predecessor (XS-Pro series), are made of brass with black matting to prevent light reflection. The brass filter ring has a better grip thanks to a new grooved surface and a special functional coating for smooth installation and removal. The thickness of the frame is 4 mm.
