This is a mother and child figurine made by Studio Florence, Italy. It is from an original model crafted by Master Giuseppe Armani. Model number Art. 0216C c1993 25cm Tall. On a wooden base with impressed marks on the figure and stickers on the base, with a gold Florence plaque on the front. Marked with a blue "N" - the "N" crown pottery mark is used by any Italian maker who wishes to be associated with the mark of Capodimonte. This figure is made of resin. Giuseppe Armani was a uniquely talented Italian artist who created a great many beautiful figurines, sculptures and statues in a variety of styles. For 31 years he designed for the Florence Sculture d'Arte, works ranging from charming Capodimonte style figurines to sculptures that featured a more modern, contemporary styling. In later years he gained much acclaim for his collection of Disney figurines which skillfully depicted many of Disney's characters. Many of his creations were issued as limited edition figurines. The soil of Tuscany, the "art" region of Italy, abounds in clay. In its raw state, the clay is grayish in colour but when fired it becomes a warm, brick-red or a lighter taupe tone. Clay that has been processed is called terracotta (which in Latin means "fired earth"). It is said that only in the medium of terra-cotta can one sense the hands of the artist moulding his sculpture. This particular material had inspired Giuseppe Armani and the Florence Sculture d'Arte. The master died in 2006, leaving behind a wide circle of admirers of his talent.
