Casa Grande, AZ - Casa Grande Improvement Company Limited, Territory of Arizona. Issued Certificate for One Thousand Shares  August 7, 1890 to J. Peralta Reavis.
An exceedingly rare and historical American share certificate which combines an intriguing historical tale with tremendous rarity. It also was crafted with the highest level of engraved security printing art. The background story is so intriguing that Vincent Price starred in a movie playing hero/villain Peralta Reavis - "The Baron of Arizona." Western share certificates are a broad field, but few stand out like this one. It is certainly among the greatest pieces from this time period and is only occasionally offered. The machine numbered certificate G59. Fully accomplished, face and verso, with officer signatures of J W Porter and H M Porter as secretary and president of the company on the front, respectively. Issued to creator (imagining was more accurate) and owner of the company J. A. Peralta Reavis of Casa Grande, Ariz. for 1000 Shares. Dated 'Seventh' day of 'August 1890.' Left side bank register stamped and pen signed dated August 11, 1890. The verso transfer vanity signed by Reavis in his beautiful style. Signed and acknowledged in presence of  J W Porter.

Certificate measures 11" x 7 1/2"   Had been folded twice. A tiny tiny pinhole barely seen lower left corner area. Overall the condition appears to be very very nice with perhaps some tiny feather creases seen around edges. I believe a nicer example would be difficult to find !

This stock certificate was one of several which I purchased at a recent auction. A number of the other certificates were owned and signed by Robert G Ingersoll. He was nicknamed "The Great Agnostic" -was an American lawyer, writer and orator during the Golden Age of Free Thought. For a time, Ingersoll represented James Reavis, pronouncing his Peralta Land Grant claim valid.

Please study photos carefully and Email with any question. A fantastic addition to any collection!
