The 1999 Redskins featured a high-scoring, entertaining offense and they put it all out there in this 50-21 pasting of the New York Giants at the Meadowlands. The offense was so dialed in, even Michael “Drop-It-Like-Its-Hot!” Westbrook caught some passes. This would be the final Redskins-Giants game played on that infamous Meadowlands astroturf (replaced by grass – finally! – the following season) and was the last Redskins-Giants game in the Big Apple featuring our old friends Pat Summerall and John Madden (who pulled no punches in their take down of Big Blue’s defense that was almost as brutal as the Redskins offensive onslaught). Stephen Davis scored three first quarter touchdowns and this game was over before it started. The victory launched the ’99 Redskins towards a rare and well-deserved NFC East division title and their first playoff appearance in seven seasons.
