From a Catalina Foothills estate is this impressive pair of 14K yellow gold cocktail / statement earrings, a showstopping I believe 1980's or so duo. Each earring features a luscious 18x13mm rectangular checkerboard cut amethyst, configured for maximum color saturation and supported by a sculptural carriage of cast gold. While I'm not sure of the exact carat weight here, these are big stones. Six (6) flanking round diamond accents accompany the mentioned deep purple beauty, with a sturdy omega clip / post arrangement completing the picture. To be clear, ornaments of this sort are not meant for any shy flower. For the bold with an event to attend (or for wearing about just because), however, they will be everything you want and then some. Both are clearly marked "14K" for fineness. Weight is very good for the form at about 12.2 total grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine with a subtle aura of time to the clean gold surfaces - I'm pretty sure these were a special occasion proposition (think cocktails on the veranda, while viewing the twinkling lights of the Old Pueblo below). The amethysts are well preserved and reflective (one can move slightly in the mount, so you might have a prong tightened just for added security), and the diamonds still do their sparkling thing. Both omega clips / posts work exactly as they should. Everything here supports a gentle history, and a look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Size of each is about 7/8 in. (22mm) vertical and 11/16 in. (17mm) horizontal - so yes, they will definitely be noticed. If you prefer vintage and overtly opulent, or simply wish a single immediate improvement to the ambiance of any day you choose, these will have great meaning for you.
