2 AXLE standing wagon with DB tube loading

Numbering: 435049

ERA III
In order to make the existing Zeebrugge-Harwich ferry connection between England and the mainland usable for the direct exchange of goods by rail without transhipment between Germany and England, the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft felt forced to procure special freight wagons for this traffic , the design of which corresponds to the regulations of both the Continental Railways and the English Railways. They are narrower in gauge, but on the other hand longer than normal freight wagons and also have a lateral maneuvering brake according to English regulations. The Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft had 300 covered ferry cars and 15 Rungen ferry cars in its freight car fleet. On the basis of special agreements, these tanks also operated between England, on the one hand, and Czechoslovakia, Austria-Hungary and Switzerland, on the other. Ferry traffic to and from England has developed very favorably.
