The Stand

Author: King, Stephen
Title: The Stand
Publication: Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, 1978
Edition: First Edition

Description: Hardcover. A near-fine first edition of this apocalyptic novel of near-human extinction, inscribed by King, "For Barry-hoped you liked this tale of love and horror beyond the end of the world-Stephen King. 4/22/83."

Barry [Brooks] was in the printing business and had some connection to King in the early 1980s. He was the recipient of copy 142 of The Plant, with all three volumes inscribed to him.

One of King's best novels. 823 pages. Near fine / Near fine.

First edition (first printing, a stated "First Edition" and yes, there is the code T39 on page 823, which is not a point of issue, all copies that state "first edition" have that code). Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with the $12.95 price. For most of King's early books, he had a standard inscription that referenced the contents of the book. For The Stand these inscriptions referred to "this tale of love and horror beyond the end of the world." Inscriptions like this one are much harder to find than the generic and common "good wishes/best wishes." You won't find many nicer copies of this key King novel.
