An exquisite 19th century Qi'ing dynasty Chinese hand-embroidered silk sleeve band/
Probably intended for a lady's robe.
Very finely worked in satin stitch on a dark cream silk satin background with a limited
palette of subtle duck-egg and robin-egg blue corded and floss silk threads.
Beautifully mounted and framed first within narrow cream silk ribbon and then a stunning
brocade border in shades of sandy gold, silver and coral pink (both hand-woven)
which perfectly compliment the central figural panel.
The subject: two court ladies in a garden setting, complete with pavilion, fence,
rockwork, water, pine & willow trees and even a couple of butterflies
Presented in an elegant understated antique delicate ebonized frame.
Re-glazed under low reflective museum glass which has a U.V. filter
and protects the delicate silks from damaging sunlight.
Approx. 61.5cm (24.25") long x 22cm (8.5") wide.
Good antique condition. Some slight staining and foxing to the background silk
consistent with age. Otherwise very good. It displays beautifully..
No losses to the threads, hole, rips or fading.
A valuable addition to any collection!
