A Good Small Wedgwood Jasperware Teapot.

A squat pleasingly rotund shape with a short spout. It is impressed “Wedgwood” only with an incised
number ‘36’ and letter 'D' which would date it to 1875. Rich mid-blue jasper dip with fine,
exquisitely detailed applied decoration. The bas-reliefs are all good quality
- almost translucent at their thinnest extremities.

The teapot is decorated with neoclassical scenes - toga draped votive priestesses, rendering
offerings to Ceres for a good harvest alternating with trees and plants.
The lid is circled by a finely modelled acanthus-leaf border.
