Extraordinary Early - Mid 20th Century Table Lamp Base
In The Form Of A Large Tower Or Lighthouse.

Seemingly a demonstration of the designer's virtuosity by mixing varied materials in unlikely combinations.
Steady, on a heavy stepped base, the lamp has been skilfully crafted from tapering hand-turned elements:
Ranging from specimen woods - teak, rosewood, ebony & lignum vitae -
to examples of early plastic, interspersed with bands of
brushed aluminium, brass and perspex.

The visually dynamic result is remarkably successful. The whole far more
coherent than you would expect.

Very difficult to date. Gut feeling suggests 1930's to 1940's.
Sadly, no evidence of a maker. Possibly Danish?

Clean and undamaged.
Surmounted by a lovely, heavy,
old chrome-plated bayonet fitting with a side twist bakelite switch.
Rewired to modern safety standards.

Approximate Dimensions: Height 41cm (16,25") x Base Diameter 20cm (8")

Bulb can be included.

Always carefully packed.
