A stunning antique carved Black Forest double eagle inkwell with log pen holder.
Fine detail to carving , the pair of eagles perched on a tree trunk in a realistic pose.
The inkwell was set into the carved tree trunk base and did not have a cover the pen holder is a carved hollow log.
Comes with glass inkwell. All original no damage just good old patina to wood . there is a pencil mark on rear of large eagle wings base, follows the recessed carving work and may look like a repair but it is not , I think it was where the artist or carver drew a guide line
Beautifully carved , this would make a lovely addition to any writing desk or fine black forest collection.
size approx : base 13.8cm x 5.4cm , 12.5cm tall.
