There was certainly a time when I felt like I was ``struggling in the mud.'' Maybe it was like that throughout the serialization of ``Vagabond''. There has been a period like that for a long time, and I think I'm just now coming out of it, or maybe I'm starting to let go of that state.

I feel like I'm about to remember the pure joy of ``creating things'' and the innocent joy of drawing manga. I want to get back to that attitude of creating works that follow that kind of innocence and pure feeling.

How “Vagabond” was not portrayed in the year and a half from its hiatus to its restart

``Vagabond'', which had been on hiatus due to Takehiko Inoue's poor health, finally resumed serialization in ``Morning'' magazine in March 2012. The "smile" series drawn using an iPad app and published on Twitter, the 3.11 Great East Japan Earthquake, and the folding screen "Shinran" produced at the request of Higashi Honganji Temple. In the midst of drastic changes in society, however, ``Vagabond'' has remained silent for a long time.Takehiko Inoue himself talks about the entire process for the first time.
