The group was formed in 1990.
At the time, he was playing death metal inspired by Movid Angel, Kirkus, Paradise Lost and others. After
being signed to the prestigious Relapse Records in the United States, he made his album debut in 1992 with The Karelian Isthmus. His
second album, Tales from the Thousand Lakes (1994), featuring organ and minimoog, is a perennial masterpiece that will remain a reverberation to this day.
After their third album Elegy in 1996, they were influenced by prog bands such as Kingston Wall and Piirpauke, and boldly introduced elements of Finnish but also oriental folk music.

Commenting on the film, guitarist Esa Holopainen said, "It's an amorphous piece from start to finish, but it's a little heavier and more progressive than the previous one."
