This is an
original copy of the book, a compilation of the history and genealogy of the
Barksdale family in America.It begins
with the family surname in England and the ancestry of William Barksdale,
believed to be the first of that surname to immigrate to Colonial Virginia,
circa 1660.
It
was published in 1940 in a limited edition of 400 copies by the William Byrd
Press in Richmond, Virginia.There are
633 numbered pages in this 9½”x 6½” hardcover book.There is a name and address on the inside
front cover and a few horizontal marking lines on margins inside.The spine is badly faded from shelf
exposure.Otherwise the 80 year old book
is in good condition.There is an
envelope attached to the inside back cover containing notes and newspaper
clippings about Barksdales which were collected by a previous owner of the
book.Look carefully at the photos
because they are part of the description.
It was donated by an estate to a charity thrift shop at
which I do volunteer work, including selling on eBay those items which would
not readily attract in-store buyers.
