GLIDE and eBay are pleased to present the inaugural Power of One Charity Lunch Auction with Marc Benioff. Bidding for this year’s Power of One Charity Lunch Auction begins at 7:30 pm PDT on May 5, 2024, and ends at 7:30 pm PDT on May 10, 2024. After a one-year break, this one-of-a-kind event is back in 2024, with the winning bidder having an opportunity to not only make history, but to spend an unforgettable afternoon with Marc Benioff, and build on GLIDE’s enduring legacy of impact. Winning bidders and up to seven of their guests will dine with Marc Benioff at a location of his choosing.
The opening bid is $25,000. All bidders must pre-qualify.
100% of proceeds from the winning bid will benefit GLIDE, one of the leading social service institutions working to alleviate human suffering and poverty in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Q: Who manages the auction?
A: Matchfire (https://matchfireauctions.com/) manages this auction. Matchfire provides a comprehensive auction management service for charities, nonprofit organizations, and top brand companies.
Q: Do I need to be pre-qualified to bid on this auction?
A: Yes. In order to help ensure a smooth and successful auction, Matchfire will be performing bidder pre-qualification for this event. Only potential bidders approved by GLIDE will be permitted to participate in this special auction. To participate, approved bidders will be required to agree to the event terms. Q: Why must I pre-qualify if I'm already a current eBay member in good standing?
A: To assure a strong and fair experience to all those who participate in, benefit from, and cheer on this special event, all potential bidders must be pre-qualified by GLIDE and agree to the event terms.
Q: Is bidding open internationally?
A: Yes, bidding is open internationally.
Q: I've won the auction! What happens next?
A: A representative of Matchfire will contact the winning bidder to congratulate him or her and confirm the payment amount and payment instructions.
Q: How may I pay for my Lunch with Marc Benioff experience?
A: Payment will be made by the winning bidder directly to the GLIDE Foundation. GLIDE prefers payment through a bank wire transfer. Funds must be payable to “GLIDE Foundation” in U.S. dollars only, shipped directly to GLIDE via traceable source, and received within three (3) business days after the close of the auction.
Q: Is there sales tax?
A: No. Sales tax will not be charged.
Q: Will a receipt be provided?
A: Yes, a receipt for the final bid amount paid will be provided by the GLIDE Foundation.
Q: Is my payment tax deductible?
A: The GLIDE Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization and payment to the GLIDE Foundation for this Lunch with Marc Benioff experience is considered a charitable contribution. Before bidding, we strongly encourage bidders wishing to claim a charitable contribution deduction to discuss with their tax advisors if, and to what extent, the payment to the GLIDE Foundation is tax deductible.
Q: When can I expect to receive information regarding my Lunch with Marc Benioff experience?
A: The winner will be contacted 7-10 business days after final payment is received to discuss coordination of the lunch.

The Lunch with Marc Benioff Experience
The Bidding Process
(i) offer the Lunch to other bidders at auction, or any other person in GLIDE’s sole discretion;

(ii) commence legal proceedings to recover the winning bid amount, or to claim damages for the bidder’s breach of contract, together the costs of such proceedings on a full indemnity basis; and
General Conditions
Winning Bidder Representations and Warranties
(a) The winning bidder and all invited guests to the Lunch (“you”, “your”) represent and warrant to GLIDE and Marc Benioff that at all relevant times:
(i) your bids are genuine and are not the product of any collusive or other anti-competitive agreement and are otherwise consistent with any applicable antitrust laws;
(ii) your performance under this agreement has not and will not violate any applicable law, regulation or code in any jurisdiction;
(iii) you have no knowledge or reason to suspect that (1) the funds used to make the bid are connected with the proceeds of criminal activity, or (2) you (or, if you are an entity, any person(s) or entity(ies) with a beneficial or ownership interest in you), are under investigation, charged with, or convicted of any substantive or predicate money laundering or economic sanctions crime, terrorist activity, tax evasion or act in violation of any anti-bribery or anti-corruption laws and regulations;
(iv) you are not, nor are you owned (in whole or in part), controlled, or acting on behalf of, an entity or individual that is: (1) the subject of economic sanctions, embargoes or other trade restrictions in any jurisdiction, including those administered and enforced by the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, United Nations Security Council, or other applicable sanctions authority (collectively, “Sanctions”), or (2) located, organized, or resident in a country or territory that is the subject of Sanctions (including Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, the Russian Federation and Belarus) (collectively, “Sanctioned Jurisdictions”);
(v) you are currently in compliance, and for the past five years have complied, with applicable Sanctions, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorism, and anti-bribery or anti-corruption laws;
(vi) the purchase price for the winning bid will not be funded directly or indirectly by or from anyone that is the subject of Sanctions or located, organized, or resident in a Sanctioned Jurisdiction;
(vii) no party directly or indirectly involved in the transaction is the subject of Sanctions, nor is it owned (in whole or in part) or controlled by any individual or entity that is the subject of Sanctions or otherwise located, organized, or resident in a Sanctioned Jurisdiction;
(viii) you have taken steps reasonably designed to ensure compliance with Sanctions, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorism, and anti-bribery or anti-corruption laws, including but not limited to, conducting appropriate due diligence on your principal and screening source of funds. You will retain and make available upon request the documentation evidencing such due diligence for at least five years after the purchase, and all commissions payable to you for this consignment have been authorized by your principal;
(ix) your purchase will not cause (or otherwise result in) GLIDE, Marc Benioff, or anyone else to violate any Sanctions, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorism, or anti-bribery or anti-corruption laws; and
(x) you have full legal authority without any further action or other party’s consent to enter into and perform this agreement and to give these representations and warranties; if you are an entity, the individual bidding on your behalf is authorized to do so and the entity is duly incorporated or formed, validly existing and in good standing in the jurisdiction where it is incorporated or formed.
(b) GLIDE may, in its sole discretion, rescind the sale of the winning bid if GLIDE reasonably determines any of your representations or warranties are inaccurate, incomplete or breached.
(c) You will provide to GLIDE, upon request, verification of identity and any additional information required to comply with any Know Your Client (“KYC”) requirements and/or the applicable law.
