A very early sterling silver escutcheon decanter label by a notable silversmith, Thomas Rush. His mark is struck twice on the back of the label and this mark was registered in 1724 to 1739. See Wine Labels 1730-2003 by Professor John Salter, Page 46. See also Arthur Grimwade's London Goldsmiths Page 208, 2914 for this mark. This label has no visible wear to the front but the rear by the M of MOUNTAIN has been reinforced with solder where the cutter came close to the edge. Probably done at manufacture. See all the photographs.  The condition to the front is crisp and the original figure of eight link chain is undamaged.  The label is of good gauge and nicely curved with an unusual top and flared sides. * Unmarked interlinked figure of eight chain
