Stainer Vintage 4/4 Fiddle, 1630 Mdl. Stamped Stainer and Germany, Early 1900s

I’m dubbing this incredible instrument “The Blue Bayou Fiddle” because it has such a wonderful Southern Vibe, if you know what I mean! This Stainer is over 100 years old, and it is truly a vintage piece. It has been through many years of professional use, probably all around and through the South. I imagine it played on a few radio and TV shows, most likely the Louisiana Hayride Show that was there in Shreveport, Louisiana. On the opposite bank of the river is Bossier City, and a violin shop there serviced this Stainer violin way back in 1972, over 50 years ago. Since then, it has only improved in resonance and tone, and it is still properly kickin’ today!

The label reads, “Jacobus Stainer in Absam Prope Oenipontum 1630.” It is stamped “Stainer” on the back near the neck heel and stamped “Germany” on the bottom panel near the end pin.

There are some old and stable cracks and repairs with no attention needed, some scratches, finish touchups, and other signs of professional use consistent with an antique instrument. Please check the images for full details.
