Description/Interesting Notes:
An outstanding example of chalcocite from Tsumeb!!! This specimen consists of an unusually sharp crystal of chalcocite in association with some minor quartz crystals
as well!!! The chalcoite crystal exhibits sharp, lustrous, dark gray metallic faces!!! The crystal exhibits a chunky, hexagonal appearance with complexly crystalline
features on the reverse!!! There are some tiny, complex quartz crystals in association that have a slightly pinkish tone in person!!! Upon close inspection
with a loupe or scope one can see some minute grains of pyrite intergrown on the bottom of the specimen as well (a characteristic feature for these fine Tsumeb chalcocites)!!! Such
finely crystallized examples of chalcocite from Tsumeb are quite scarce indeed!!!
This specimen is from the noted Tsumeb collection of Dick Nelson and retains its original, labelled acrylic base as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on
