A 1953 Coronation Set Aristocrat #66 Rhodium plated razor Made In England.

4th Generation closed comb Aristocrat with notched centre bar, end caps, and marked Pat Pending on the base plate. The handle is Rhodium plated and the head nickel plated.

This is a beautiful set released by Gillette in 1953 to celebrate the coronation of The Queen. The Coronation models made in 1953 are highly sought after and becoming very difficult to find. It has the ultra smooth British TTO, a diamond stamped base plate with a notched centre bar, and end caps.

Condition: The razor is excellent and had no plate loss and doors open and close smoothly. The case given its age is in good condition, the inner chrome trim is clean and had no chips. The inner fabric is still intact and has held its colour well, the whole case is sturdy and opens and closes as it should.

In it's day the Gillette Aristocrat was named thus to represent luxury, quality and the ability to give a premium shave. The feel of having this in one's hand shaving is amazing in itself; a piece of jewellery almost, you can see why the well heeled man of the 1950s would have been shaving with this today!
