About the Stamps:
This issue is made up of two stamps,
in the form of Se-tenant, highlighting
urban scenes in which the means of
locomotion and the various options
of mobility-car, bicycle and subwayare
harmoniously and adhering to the
requirements of comfort, safety and
sustainability. The first stamp highlights
the VLT, representing the collective
transport on rails, and other forms of
locomotion as the skateboard and
the bus, in the process allowing easy
wheelchair access for people with
motor difficulties. The second stamp,
displayed the respect for people, where
cars and cyclists stop at the crosswalk,
in scenario that points to the possibility
of using the subway. In the background,
people are on the way with developed
marked facility, with plates and tactile
floors. The technique of computer
graphics was used.
Sustainable Mobility
Sustainable urban mobility in Brazil, a challenge
for all!
The Brazilian urban transport system can count on various
modes of transport: air, land and river, adding the rafts, canoes
and boats used in coastal towns, mainly in the North of the country.
Trams and trains feature a historical and cultural heritage of some
Brazilian cities.
The subway and train lines were designed to wreak traffic excerpts
that connect the Centre to the outskirts of surrounding cities. In general,
the trains have cars designed to offer users the convenience and
security necessary for the transfer of equipment, without the worry of
tumultuous or long transit routes on foot. In any means of transport, it
is expected that the user can drive what it considers important to its
locomotion and/or recreational activity like bike, skates, skateboard
and scooter.
Is it possible to make the integration between transport, with a single
pass, ensuring the route from home to work, for example, with more
dynamism, safety and comfort. There are women-only cars at peak
hours, providing them with comfort and dignity during the journey, an
initiative that has gained strength from the experience.
The seats reserved for the disabled, elderly, pregnant women
and obese people with infants are properly marked and well
distributed, strengthening the culture of respect and the well-being
of the citizen.
The newly opened BRT- us Rapid Transit - public transport system
based on the use of the bus, presents itself as an alternative similar to
the VLT – Light Rail Vehicle – which, together, meet residents of some
cities in the country, with larger, comfortable, air conditioned bus and
faster, with exclusive routes.
There are cities where the virtual service Islands make it possible
to consult bus lines, schedules and charts. The consult can be made
on the site or through mobile applications, which warn even when
the transport is coming, offering more convenience to the users.
Wi-fi internet access is possible in some bus stations and subway terminals. It is very common to see passengers connected,
trackside, while waiting for the vehicles who will bring them to
their destinations.
Users also have alternative means to reach their destinations.
One of them is a project that provides bicycle parking points in
various locations of the major metropolitan cities such as Brasilia,
Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. It became an alternative medium,
popular, practical and healthy for many users of public transport.
Cycle paths resurfaced and well marked offer more comfort to cyclists
and motorists as well.
On the World Car Free Day, September 22nd, the main urban
mobility movements develop activities to promote and inform the
general public about the various alternatives of locomotion in the
cities.
The famous Cloverleafs of Brasilia are examples of traffic
fluidity, along with the underground passages, allowing the use
of semaphore, allowing more free traffic in ways that give them
access.
The concept of sustainable mobility is based on the improvement
of public transport, thus contributing to the reduction in the use of
common cars and pollution, with the purpose of offering users more
humanized services, with reduced costs and smaller and more
comfortable routes. Current alternatives already exist in the cities
of Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro, being, every day, enhanced, like
buses completely powered by bio-diesel or electric power. With the
participation of all, it will be possible to ensure a more sustainable
mobility model for Brazil.
