A nice example of the first incarnation of the popular XJ900. This is the 1983 SECA model.

MOTd until July 2024.

Please note that this was originally a European model, so the speedometer is in KMH. The odometer indicates 49,226, so about only 30,600 miles, although I cannot confirm this is the genuine mileage.

Generally in very good condition for its age. Original silencers look good, exhausts are sound, instruments are clean. Seat cover has no splits.

The bike starts and idles fine. The exhausts give a beautiful deep sound. A ‘throttle blippers’ dream!

Nearly £1000 has been recently spent with the following being done:

New tyres front and rear

New brake discs front and rear

New swingarm bearings

New wheel bearings

Rebuilt front and rear brake calipers with stainless steel pistons

New Venhill braided brake hoses front and rear

Rebuilt rear brake master cylinder

New front master cylinder/brake lever

New throttle, choke and clutch cables

New rear shock absorbers

New battery

New foot rest rubbers

New petrol cap

New mirrors

Only negatives are a minor dent on the tank and the fairing has had a bracket glued on.

I think this would make a good, affordable and reliable classic with scope for minor improvements (like polishing the engine covers for example).

I’m selling this because my original intention was to radically customise it. However, I think it’s too good for that and needs to go to an owner who appreciates it for what it is.
