Much loved 1987 Made in Japan Squier Strat.

A previous owner (not me!!!) had a go at doing a relic job on the body. Thankfully, the body contours are intact although the pickup cavity will reveal the classic late 80's factory so-called swimming pool rout.

The electronics were upgraded at some point and the pickups are, apparently, vintage reissue Klein.

The body appears to have come from a Yako (Taiwan) Strat, as indicated by the routing and red letter in the neck pocket. Also, the guitar is probably a composite of 2 different Strats.

This has, of course, been reflected in the pricing.

The gold sparkle pickguard is, of course, also a later addition as well as the "never take broken for an answer".

The frets are in pretty good nick given the age of the guitar. It plays extremely well and sounds absolutely massive.

Fender intended these guitars to offer an upgraded version of a 1962 original with slab board, thinner neck and stamped steel saddles bridge but with upgraded sealed tuners to improve tuning stability.

The Squier branded guitars were then exactly identical to the Fender branded ones. The idea is that the then fairly newly established Fender Japan wouldn't stoop so low as to voluntarily produce lower quality instruments. Also, these probably rank among the best Strats produced.

The guitar has been gently played and gigged since I've had it.

Once again, aside from the paint job, it is in extremely good condition for its age and is a fantastic player.

It's currently set up with 11s but I'm happy to set it up with any string gauge you like.

It's currently viewable in West Hampstead/Kilburn and I'm happy to deliver it in person anywhere within zone 1-3 of London.

Otherwise, it'll be shipped via Parcelforce/ eBay global shipping program.

I'll even throw in a free gig bag.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Thanks!!!! :)
