NEW Decision Games' World at War #1 with Barbarossa: The Russo-German War Game

New and Unpunched This auction is for one new magazine and game as shown in the pictures. This 66-page (with covers but not counting rules) 1st issue of World at War includes the following feature articles (2nd picture): an analysis of Barbarossa; one on Operation Market-Garden, a description of Germany's plans to strategically bomb the continental US, and an article of the 1944 battle for Biak, an island just off New Guinea. Additionally there's an Observation Post column (kinda like S&T's FYI column) detailing interesting and relatively unknown WW2 facts. Barbarossa, per the rules' introduction, is "...a two player, low-to-intermediate complexity, strategic-level simulation of the entire Russo-German War, 1941-45." Turns represent 1 - 2 months, a hexagon on the map is 55 miles across, and units are generally German corps and Soviet armies. The turn sequence is IGOUGO with the Germans moving first and the Soviets moving second each turn. In addition to the basic game there's a shorter scenario that begins in November 1942. Included in the game are:
  • 1 ea 32-page rules section stapled into the center of the magazine
  • 1 full-color 22" x 34" matte unmounted map that contains main game charts (BTW - the map has 1" hexes so you can actually manipulate counters without knocking things over!)
  • 1 unpunched sheet of 280 full color backprinted unit and information counters
This magazine and game are in new condition throughout and have lived their entire lives in a smoke-free environment. If you've a hankering to play a straightforward game on the Eastern Front, give this a try!
