Mantua Model 769 1/150 scale Golden Star, 18th Century English Brigantine

I got this kit years ago from Model Expo, open as shown. The photo on the box-top is of the completed kit and this kit, when built, is approximately 20.5" long (includng bowspirit), 15.5" tall, and just over 4" wide (to where the ratlines were secured). As you can see, it builds impressively. Included are, as shown in the 2nd picture:
  • Two sheets of laser-cut wooden parts
  • A pile of lumber (the kit is double-planked so you'll need it).
  • A sealed blister sheet with anchors, rigging material, some brass decorative bits, lots of blocks and dead eyes in at least two sizes, brass detail bits, a cloth ensign, a wooden ship's wheel, at least one bag of nails (it's hiding behind the rigging line), and a number of other wooden detail bits, as well as cloth sails
  • Two 27" x 38" plans sheets, one of which is double-sided, and which contain the building instructions in several languages
  • One kit box
As is usual with a decent kit of this sort, there are lots of bits, all of which are present as far as I can tell; all laser-cut parts are still on their sprues and the sealed blister sheet is both sealed and intact. The planking and masts are still in their trough though several of the rubber bands holding the bundles of planking together have long since disintigrated. Since getting this kit in about 1992 I've not had it open beyond an initial look-see until taking pictures just now so I don't imagine any strips of lumber went missing... ;-) The kit's mostly wooden, with numerous smaller bits - anchors, some decorative bits, some wire, and a bag o' nails and eyelets - are in various metals. The instructions are somewhat cursory (e.g. "Assemble Part A to Part B" but don't really describe in any detail how to build a plank-on-frame kit. I recommend, if you've not built one before, getting any of the various inexpensive introductions to model ship building on the market. You could do worse than visiting Model Expo (dot com) and perusing their book offerings.

Packaging and contents are in new condition the lightest of wear to the box from decades sitting in a closet, and this kit's lived its entire long life in a smoke-free environment. If you want to try your hand at plank-on-frame modeling this is nice kit - build it!
