JOHN LENNON / DOUBLE FANTASY RECORDING SESSIONS (4CD+DVD)

Description

*A re-release of the title recording John Lennon's last recording session from the M Claudel label. The album "Double Fantasy" was held at the Hit Factory and Record Plant in New York from August to October 1980, and the fruitful recording sessions that culminated in the posthumous album "Milk and Honey" are included in this work. This includes songs from ``Double Fantasy''. This album is full of famous songs that are already known as standards today, and John's youthful vocals and sophisticated rock 'n' roll that was suitable for the new era of the 1980s became a hot topic. This group of masterpieces was written little by little after Sean was born, when his musical career seemed to be on hold, and the combination of their leit motifs can be heard in the demo tapes of all stages. I can do it. This work records the session at that stage, when the song was completed to some extent and was actually recorded in the studio, leaving the huge amount of demo tapes for another time. Many of the sessions held at both the Hit Factory and Record Plant in New York were recorded, both formally and informally, and many of them were half-hearted collector's items. This work covers everything in a volume that makes all of that unnecessary. Disc 1 contains two songs: “STARTING OVER” and “CLEAN UP TIME”. It begins with a vivid performance of the guitar confirming the chords of "(JUST LIKE) STARTING OVER", which was released as the first single befitting a new album for the first time in five years, announcing a fresh start, and then repeating rehearsals over and over again. is recorded. In between sessions, he appears to be enjoying his first studio recording in a while, playing songs such as ``Only The Lonely'' and ``Gone From This Place'' for fun. Disc 2 includes “I’M LOSING YOU” and the session at that time, as well as “I’M MOVING ON”. “I’M LOSING YOU” was originally a session inviting Cheap Trick. John's rock'n'roll voice overlaps with Rick Nielsen's very hard guitar, making it a tense session. Unfortunately, the session with Cheap Trick was shelved because the arrangement was too hard, but I see that the sound source you can hear here sounds great when mixed with the arrangements of other songs. I can see that it was so hard that it made me feel depressed. The session at the time of this “I’M LOSING YOU” is left relatively long, and it is recorded in the second half of Disc 2. Forgetting the original “I’M LOSING YOU”, he happily plays the Beatles’ “SHE’S A WOMAN” (and Paul’s song!) and oldies numbers. Another feature of this work is that it includes not only John's songs but also Yoko's songs. Like "I'M LOSING YOU," Yoko's "I'M MOVING ON" is also a hard track with Cheap Trick. It is recorded in an arranged version. It is a standalone recording, not connected in a medley. Disc 3 includes sessions for four songs: “BEAUTIFUL BOY,” “WATCHING THE WHEELS,” “I’M YOUR ANGEL,” and “DEAR YOKO.” ``BEAUTIFUL BOY'' was written for his beloved son Sean, so John had a lot of feelings for it, and he recorded it with many different renditions and lyrics, so it's interesting to listen to it and compare it with the final released version. I think so. Furthermore, in this album, you can listen to the outtake of "Atana no Angel", which is relatively easy on the ears. Disc 4 includes sessions for 3 songs: ``WOMAN'', ``Otoko wa Everybody'', and ``HARD TIMES ARE OVER''. “WOMAN” seems to have become a standard number now. In contrast to the Beatles, the 1980 version of "GIRL" is a popular song that uses breath effectively, which is typical of John. In fact, it contains 12 versions. There are versions of ``Everyone is a Man'' by John and Yoko, but I think a duet version is rare. Finally, as a bonus track, the long version that was only included in the basic track of "STARTING OVER" and "WOMAN" and the 12-inch promo of "STARTING OVER", although it includes an interview with a radio DJ, and the same Contains “MAGGIE MAE” sung by John from the session. The DVD disc contains footage from Sean's birth through the househusband era, and his final years, especially in 1980. Director Andrew Salt, who produced the film ``Imagine,'' said in 1988 that it was rare for a single person to have so much footage left behind. It also includes footage from his stay in Japan. Outtakes, alternate versions, and sessions of John and Yoko's masterpiece ``Double Fantasy'' are covered on 4 discs. In addition, footage from his later years. A solid press with beautiful picture disc specifications for permanent preservation.
